The 'Mathematics Chart-Topping Little Heroes' is a distinctive subject activity created by the mathematics teaching and research group of the Primary School Department to stimulate students' interest in mathematics and enhance their problem-solving skills, which involves all students from Grades 3 to 6 and mainly takes the form of 'daily chart posting and monthly awards'. Every day, dedicated answer charts are set up around key knowledge points of each grade, allowing students to gradually fall in love with and master mathematics through the process of 'posting the chart, solving problems, and advancing'.
To be concrete, teachers of each grade group post the questions on time every day. In the meantime, students have changed from being afraid of difficult problems to taking the initiative to solve them. Thus, the daily activity of answering and solving the posted questions, and the sudden enlightenment after each solution, not only enhance students' problem-solving skills but also cultivate their habits and shape their characters.
Moreover, each month, a substantial collection of honors and rewards serves as a testament to the growth and transformation of the young heroes in the world of mathematics, acknowledging the efforts of the students and becoming the motivation for them to keep moving forward.
'Before, I hated doing math problems the most. However, now, I look forward to the day when the results are announced and I get to answer the questions. The feeling of winning a trophy for getting the answers right is just so cool...' — Zhang Jiaqing, Class 302
'The monthly award ceremony is my most anticipated moment. In order to get the trophy, I go and check the list first every day...' - Ma Ruixuan, Class 402
'By participating in the challenge and answering the questions, I discovered that mathematics is present in every aspect of life. Also, my problem-solving approach has become clearer and clearer... '—— Ge Yihan, Class 505
'Previously, I always thought math problems were like an insurmountable mountain. Nevertheless, since I started working on solving the questions...' - Jiao Jiarui, Class 605
In a nutshell, not only did the 'Primary School Mathematics Hero Award' activity enable students to acquire knowledge and enjoy the process of learning mathematics, but also created a favorable learning atmosphere of 'competition and striving for excellence' in mathematics. Therefore, we will continuously improve the activity format and enrich the question content, so that more students can become passionate and skilled 'little heroes' in mathematics!
